During the late 1980s, my mother heard a radio report about an educational method called “homeschooling.” At the time, it was framed as a predominantly religious response in the U.S. to the secularization of schooling. The homeschooling movement has changed radically since my time as a child in our schoolroom. It’s moved from the churches into the mainstream.
