More and more families are choosing a life of travel and combining it with homeschooling according to an article at Crixeo. Nathan Swartz, a writer for Wand’rly, and his wife have been roadschooling their three children for the past eight years. “It’s hard to say how many families, or people in general, are traveling around these days,” he says. Families find various ways to fund their travel by either working remotely or as social media and travel influencers. There are no statistics on the number of roadschoolers because the Education Department doesn’t track that information, however, a roadschooling group on Facebook currently has over 12,000 members.
Homeschooling co-ops may be eligible for a My Kool Smiles Classroom Education Grant. Five $1000 grants will be awarded to K-5 educators who are promoting dental health and education in their classroom. Submissions are open until August 31 and the winners will be announced on September 12th. The My Kool Smiles Classroom Grant Program is sponsored by the Benevis Foundation. Official rules and the submission form can be found at mykoolsmiles.com.
