Library Adds Resources for Homeschoolers and More News

The Lawrence County Library in Moulton, AL added 844 items into circulation thanks to a $15,000 federal grant via the Library Services and Technology Act. Rex Bain, the library’s director said he had homeschoolers in mind when adding the items to their collection. Bain said homeschoolers had been looking for educational resources but the library didn’t have any due to recent budget cuts.

CuriOdyssey, a science playground in San Mateo, CA, is offering a project-based homeschooling program for kids 5-13. Classes will be on Wednesdays for three hours with two sessions offered during the school year. Session A starts October 3rd and goes until December 19th and sessions B starts January 9th, 2019 and goes until April 24th, 2019. Although the content is the same for both sessions, children may attend both. Registration for returning families starts August 21st and new families can register starting August 23rd.
