Indigenous Parents Turn to Homeschooling; Iowa Public Radio Story, Homeschool Drama

An article from ABC News (Australia) highlights the literacy and numeracy gap between indigenous non-indigenous children in Australia. Some indigenous parents are turning to homeschooling to make up for the Australian education systems unfair treatment of Aboriginal students.

Iowa Public Radio has as story on homeschooling in Iowa. In it, current homeschooling parents and former homeschooled students are interviewed about their experiences. One topic of discussion is the lack of oversight for homeschooling families.

The Homeschool Dramatic Society will present Sign of Love, the life story of Thomas Gallaudet at the the Cookeville Performing Arts Center in Cookville, TN. Performances are on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening the performances will be interpreted for the hearing impaired.
