18-year-old Claire Dickson is entering into Harvard College this fall. What got her into the most famous school in the world, one with a record-low 5.3% acceptance rate? Homeschooling, she tells Boston Magazine. Dickson is one of the 2.2. million kids homeschooled across the country. While homeschoolers might still live on the margins of the US education system — they only make up 3.4% of America’s student body — the leading research suggests the education they receive is second-to-none.
