Homeschool Student Uses Cooking Skills to Raise Funds for International Missions

Leach always has been homeschooled, but now in her junior year of high school she is dual-enrolled at First Coast Technical College in the Adult Culinary Arts program and also takes classes at St. Johns River State College. She is working toward earning her Culinary Certificate by January.

When Ellie Leach and her older sister Maggie needed money to go on international mission trips last summer, they took an entrepreneurial approach far more sophisticated than the classic bake sale fundraising model. They used their creative cooking skills, combined it with business sense and ended up earning $10,000.
