Historically a residential and light industrial district, the Congaree Vista was once the transportation hub of the city, dating back to before the Civil War. Students will learn how the railroads played an influential role in the Vista’s development. We will visit the locations that were wayside hospitals during the Civil War, cotton warehouses, passenger depots, early automobile dealerships, and more.
