Barnes & Noble is celebrating teachers and administrators nationwide with its Fall Educator Appreciation Days until October 14. Barnes & Noble will be offering additional discounts, offers, and giveaways, while supplies last to homeschool teachers too. The special discounts offered during Educator Appreciation Days are available to pre-K to grade 12 teachers and administrators enrolled in the free Barnes & Noble Educator Discount Card Program.
Hershey’s Homeschool Day is on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your kids to The Hershey Story and discover all things Hershey — the man, his business, the town, and the chocolate — in an active, hands-on way! Our unique programs reach far beyond history to include economics, geography, science, math and reading. Tickets are $10 per person. Now in its third year, the Homeschool Academy of Sandpoint, ID has moved to a new location. Homeschool Academy provides supplement education for homeschoolers in grades K-8. Though the organization started with only 16 students, it currently has 116 students and HSA director Melinda Rossman expects to grow to 200 students by summer next year. Classes are available five days a week and are free to students.
Homeschool Students are invited to Fort Ticonderoga for Homeschool Day on Friday Sept. 7th from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the day, students can learn about British soldiers and sailors who anchored and encamped at Fort Ticonderoga in 1781. Parents can register their homeschool students for the new Mineral County Cyber Academy. The pilot program only has 25 slots available for students in grades 6-12 and is available at no cost. Students enrolled in the course will receive a high school diploma upon completion and participate in school sports if 6 or more hours of classes are taken. BELMONT, NY – Homeschool parents urged the Allegany County Board of Legislators to allow homeschooled students equal access to high school sports. Although the district superintendent opposed the proposal, the county legislators unanimously voted to allow homeschoolers the right to participate in interscholastic sports.
CARMEL, IN – After multiple attempts to qualify, Kate Brandt (a homeschool mother of 2), will appear on the July 4th episode of Jeopardy!. Brandt and her family traveled to California for taping and visited Disneyland and Universal Studios while there.
CULLMAN, AL – Homeschool families in Alabama gathered at the Cullman Civic Center for the 2nd annual North Alabama Homeschool Expo which features multiple vendors, workshops, and lectures for parents and kids.
