The United States House of Representatives have passed H.R. 6757 to expand 529 savings plans to include homeschooling. Under the current tax code, parents and grandparents can only put aside funds for religious and private schooling. The bill still needs to be approved by the Senate.
FAIRFIELD, Ohio – Austin Osner’s only Christmas wish was to make more friends. This weekend, the 10-year-old from Fairfield got his wish and more when he traveled almost 800 miles to Wichita, Kansas for a prosthetic arm. “I’ve been wanting one for maybe a year, ever since I actually knew they existed,” Austin said.
A Kansas Senate education committee will hear testimony on a proposal to allow home-schooled students to participate in public school sports and activities, the committee’s chairman said.The proposed bill is short on details but would allow any student living in a school district to participate in any district activity for four consecutive school years, up to age 20 and even if the student graduates before the fourth year, The Wichita Eagle reported.
SOUTH HAVEN — Zach Pounds finished with a game-high 13 points, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the South Haven High School boys basketball team suffered a 63-30 loss to the Wichita Homeschool Warriors in nonleague basketball play Tuesday night.
The Warriors jumped ahead 19-6 in the first quarter and led 33-17 at halftime. They outscored the Cardinals (1-6) in every period.
