Jared Cochran admits that sometimes during a conversation, he’ll only half listen. It’s something a lot of people are guilty of, especially with the distraction of phones and other technology. But a class the 18-year-old is taking at his homeschool co-op in Virginia Beach has made him aware of the bad habit, and now he’s making a conscious effort to be a more active listener.
In an article in the Scout Somerville, Neil Cicierega the Creator of popular YouTube series ‘Potter Puppet Pals’ stated he was homeschooled. He says his parents start homeschooling him the fourth grade. He said his parents’ “a loose curriculum…provided boundless amounts of time for him and his two siblings to explore their interests.” The full article can be read here.
NBC reports that one of the major reasons African American families choose to homeschool is to teach black history. Only about 10% of class time is devoted to black history so parents are turning to homeschooling to fill that gap.
Homeschooler Noah Tetzner, the host of The History of Vikings, recently stated on School of Podcasting with Dave Jackson that his podcast currently gets 10,000 downloads per episode. Noah started the podcast five months ago because he didn’t find one that was exciting. Now that he’s grown his audience, Noah is looking to monetize his podcast.
