Brazilian Supreme Court to Rule on Homeschooling and Other News

On August 30th, the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) is set to judge the legality of homeschooling. To-date, about 60 families have been indicted for “intellectual abandonment” in Brazil, however, National Association of Family Education says legal proceedings have been suspended until the STF makes a judgment on homeschooling’s legality. Statistics from the National Association of Family Education indicate about 7,500 families homeschool in Brazil which comes to about 15,000 students.

Galowich Family YMCA near Joliet, IL is offering Homeschool Open Swim program on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. Sessions start on September 10th and run through November 12th. The Burlington County Library in Westampton, NJ invites homeschoolers to their open house to learn about the service BCLS offers to homeschooling families. The event is free and no registration is required. Come to the library from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on September 26th to learn about homeschool workshops, storytimes, STEAM, and BCLS resources.
