Aspiring Orthodontist Creates “Smile Packs” and Other News

Gracie Petry of Lafayette, LA is a 15 year-old aspiring orthodontist. During a week-long dental mission trip to Mexico, the homeschool student noticed people were running out of dental hygiene supplies and created “Smile Packs”. She uses her babysitting money to create kits with toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss to send to needy people in Mexico.

Homeschoolers will want to take advantage of Smithsonian Magazine’s 14th annual Museum Day. On Museum Day “[p]articipating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket. 18 years in the making, a homeschooling mother of three finally published her “dream novel”. Mary Mendenhall said everything about The Wrong Side of Eternity: A Present Day Passion came to her in a dream. Written by lamplight, when the book was released in 2016 it earned the Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. The Wrong Side of Eternity: A Present Day Passion is currently available on Amazon as a paperback and for Kindle.
