8 Oregon Homeschoolers are National Merit Semi-Finalists

8 of Oregon’s elite National Merit semi-finalists are homeschoolers

In a first for Oregon, eight of its top-scoring National Merit semi-finalists in the class of 2016 are homeschoolers. Students who score in the top 1 percent of students on the PSAT test are deemed semi-finalists, and there are 177 of them in Oregon’s senior class this year, including 28 at Westview High in Beaverton and 16 at Lincoln High in Southwest Portland.

Editor’s note: 3 of the 8 semi-finalists are from the Mowrey family (pictured above).
